Collocations are words which commonly go together. Using collocations can be a very useful way of learning vocabulary.
For example; each of these sets of words can be used to describe parts of the body. Which body part does each set describe?

An idiom is a phrase or a fixed expression that has a figurative, or sometimes literal, meaning. An idiom's figurative meaning is different from the literal meaning.

So and neither responses can be very difficult. Let's just focus on what we say if we agree with someone.
If someone says something negative and we agree with them we can use neither.
If someone says something positive and we agree with them we can use so.

You look nice today. So do you.= You look nice too.
Stephanie has a new boyfriend. So does Mary.= Mary has a new one too.
